A Chiropractic Team That Cares!
Dr. Ryan Pilsner and his staff have been like a family to me. . They care not only about my spinal health, but my day to day issues. They take time to really get to know their patients. They educate in a kind gentle way on what I can do to help live a healthy pain free life. Dr. Ryan’s passion to help other people is very clear through his evening classes. He is an educator. He sends notes of encouragement, gives us tools to use at home to continue working to improve, and explains how our complicated body works. I am a retired elementary school teacher who started seeing a chiropractor around 2002 after all else had failed to relieve back and neck pains. I’ve never had a doctor who cared so much for each of his patients.

Bye-Bye Ear Infections!!!
Bye-Bye Ear Infections!!!
My mother has been seeing a chiropractor in Longmont for the past several years to treat migraines. I never thought that it was something that I needed since I did not have any chronic pain or issues. Shortly after my first son was born, my mother’s chiropractor started asking if I had thought about getting him checked out. I figured that he did not have any major health concerns, so that would not really be necessary. After my second son was born two years later, my mother asked if I had thought about getting the boys checked out and she gave me Dr. Ryan’s number (that her chiropractor had given to her). I tucked that away in the file of “thoughtful suggestions for later” and went about my day.
The summer after my youngest son turned one, he started experiencing repeat ear infections. The pattern was that he would get an ear infection, the pediatrician would prescribe antibiotics, my son would get better, and then 2-3 weeks later we would be right back at the beginning of the cycle. By the time we reached fall, my son was on his 5th or 6th cycle; a couple of them had even been double ear infections. The pediatrician started talking about putting tubes in his ears to help prevent further infections. A friend of mine had gone down that path with her son and I was scared to follow suite with mine. I decided it was time to explore other options and chose to finally give chiropractic care a try.
I contacted Heart and Hand Chiropractic and have been happy about that choice ever since. My youngest son has not had a single ear infection since starting his chiropractic treatment. He has experienced improved health overall and best of all…no tubes!
My entire family has since been checked and we have been patients since December 2015. Dr. Ryan and his staff are fabulous. They are kind, courteous, and friendly. It is a great family environment. I guess it just goes to show that moms and their chiropractors always know best.

I Appreciate Dr. Pilsner
I was first introduced to chiropractic care at Heart & Hand during an event at my school where I had consultation with the doctor. Additionally, I had heard about successes in treatment from various friends who were under chiropractic care. My initial reasons for treatment were because I had numbness and tingling in my limbs, stiff/achy muscles in my back, headaches and lack of flexibility. I was also having pain in my neck, shoulders, and low back. I had a short experience with chiropractic 20 years ago, but at that time gained only minimal results due to lack of education about the process and the importance of lifestyle changes to complement the treatment. The additional benefits from chiropractic care that I am now living are that I sleep much better and am feeling less pain. When I first came to Heart and Hand, the smartest thing I did was bring my husband to the follow-up meeting to discuss my initial x-rays and the treatment plan. At that meeting, my husband and I both gained a deeper understanding of what was going on for me and we were able to proceed with the corrective care plan being on the same page. To me, having him be a part of this process is no different than if I were in need of surgery or undergoing treatment for a serious illness. The Heart and Hand office is a definitely a place where my children feel very comfortable. It is clear that Dr. Ryan cares about my health but also about the health of my entire family. I hope to be bringing my children and my husband to Dr. Ryan for many, many years. I appreciate Dr. Pilsner’s willingness to educate and share his knowledge in order to help me move toward wellness and to maintain it once I get there! I feel glad to have found this route toward better health! I particularly enjoy the “extras” such as the tours at Sunflower Market and the Tuesday night classes. If I had a recommendation to others who are sick, suffering or in pain it would be to investigate and be open to all possible treatment options; preferring the ones which are holistic in nature.

I’m glad I made the decision to do this
I had been thinking of having my scoliosis checked and had never been to a chiropractor when I met Dr. Ryan and some of his staff at a health fair. I did not know what to expect, but figured I could at least go in for a consultation. Chiropractors deal with spines and that is what I wanted examined. Now that I have been a patient for 3 months, I have learned more about my scoliosis than I did in the prior 20 years that I have known that I’ve had the condition. Dr Ryan’s explanations of the affects my scoliosis has on my overall health have been very informative and useful. I like the way he will take the time to provide an explanation and answer questions. I now know more about spinal health and feel empowered to make changes to improve my overall health through taking care of my spine. I’ve also heard several positive results from several of the patients and have seen the increase range of motion in my neck along with the reduction of headaches. I’m considering that once my neck has been realigned to continue chiropractic care in order to improve my performance as a competitive sailor. I would recommend that anyone who suffers from back pain or headaches, let alone scoliosis, to come in and see Dr. Ryan. It has made a difference in my life and I am glad I made the decision to do this.

I recommend Dr. Pilsner to everyone
I came to Dr. Pilsner because of lower back pain and neck pain with severe migraines at least once a week. I had suffered with this pain and migraines since early childhood. However, since these symptoms ran in my family on both sides, all of my family doctors chalked it up to genetics and left it alone. When I started working in the dental field, I noticed an increase in the pain and frequency of my migraines. There were days that I would go home sick and unable to do anything but lay down until the next morning. Like most people I figured “this is just life,” took Advil, and moved on. In the beginning, I did visit a chiropractor once monthly to relieve some pain, but then stopped when I moved. Of course my symptoms got progressively worse. It started to effect my weekends, and since I ran a business out of my house on top of my full time job, I felt as though I could never get anything accomplished. I was always too tired, or in too much pain. Both my father and a friend kept urging me to return to the chiropractor, but what really prompted me was when a childhood urinary tract disorder that was never addressed caused damage to one of my kidneys. My urologist told me I couldn’t take NSAIDs anymore, so I lost the only thing that really allowed me to cope with the pain. Tylenol definitely didn’t help, so I was left with hot showers and lying down for hours at a time. I even had to go home from work a couple times because the pain wouldn’t go away. Just as I was beginning my search for a new chiropractor I met Dr. Pilsner and Melissa at the Sunflower Market Health Fair. My first visit I felt instantly comfortable with the staff as well as the office. Everyone was very friendly and informative. Dr. Pilsner took the time to review everything with me so I had a greater understanding of why I was feeling what I was feeling. After just a few adjustments I was headache free! My family and co-workers noticed the change immediately. They said I seem happier and that I have more energy! I feel like I am able to devote more time to my patients and I am able to be ten times more productive at home with my business! It’s been a dramatic change, and it has prompted several of my co-workers to return to their chiropractors. I feel like anyone in the dental field should definitely see a chiropractor due to the poor posture that is almost required while working on patients. I recommend Dr. Pilsner to everyone I discuss it with!

I’m fortunate to have met Dr. Pilsner
I had the fortunate pleasure of meeting Dr. Pilsner when he attended, and subsequently joined, the Kiwanis Club of Fort Collins, of which we are still members. Our club has less than twenty members; therefore an immediate acquaintance was inevitable. He joined our club with a positive attitude and enthusiasm towards helping kids and getting involved with the community. So when I needed to find a Chiropractor who not only would be personable and friendly, but also professional and knowledgeable, I knew I found the right place with Dr. Pilsner. I have been networking and working as a professional for over 8 years in Fort Collins, and have met and heard the reputations of many Chiropractors. I had an army to choose from, and I chose Dr. Pilsner. I have been seeing Chiropractors on and off since 1991 when I was first diagnosed with minor scoliosis. I have typically always coupled my chiropractic care with physical therapy, as I feel they greatly complement each other. My problem was that I never felt that I was getting the undivided attention and specific treatment that I needed to get to the root of my problems. I began seeing Dr. Pilsner in the spring of 2011 when I had just finished tax season and I was experiencing 1-2 migraines a week. Typically I get between 1-2 a year, but this was a stressful tax season. Within the first visit, my migraines stopped, and I have not experienced one since. I also have lower back pain that has limited my physical activity, specifically swimming, and it was affecting my ability to sit and stand for long periods of time. I was also dealing with a rare issue in my neck where if I turned my neck just right I would get an electric shock from the base of my skull through my shoulder. Dr. Pilsner has been able to get me on the right track in dealing with those issues. He has taught me the meaning of chiropractic care. I have learned that it is not just about the adjustments, it’s about a lifestyle and taking care of the whole body. He has also informed me of the reasons behind the adjustments and/or care plans, so I have an understanding of the why, how, and how long. I have never had a doctor explain to me how chiropractic works. That was a relief and encouraged me to help myself in the process. Chiropractic care addresses the root of the problems and doesn’t just mask pain with medicine. It works, and I am fortunate to have experienced much success that I wish others would experience for themselves. Chiropractic care normally comes with a stigma that you just get cracked. This is so far from the truth and once I began care with Dr. Pilsner, I was able to hear the explanation of why Chiropractic is critical in the solving of many heath issues. It is a lifestyle, and as I said in the beginning, I am fortunate to have met Dr. Pilsner and to be under his care.

Thank you so much for everything!
I have spent the last three years working two very demanding jobs that require me to be on my feet for about 60 hours a week. It was not until about a year ago that I began to notice pain that was developing in my lower back. That pain eventually escalated into often times crippling discomfort that would last for hours. It took nearly seven months of persistent pain and numerous discussions with family members over possible treatment plans and paths available before I actually stepped foot in Dr. Pilsner’s office. Eventually I began exploring the options of Chiropractic and started researching ways in which it could be beneficial for me and my lifestyle. I knew I needed a treatment plan that was focused on addressing the immediate pain I was feeling but was also aimed specifically at long-term results. I also wanted to ensure that the path I chose for treatment was one that involved zero medication, allowed me to live my very busy life uninterrupted, and was something I would want to recommend to others. Luckily, Dr. Pilsner’s office offered all of this and more. I consider myself very lucky that my first Chiropractic experience was with this office specifically. I did a lot of research in attempting to find a Chiropractor that suited my needs and location. From the moment I walked into the office I felt welcomed and truly sensed that my needs were of utmost importance. All of the staff, including Dr. Pilsner, helped me structure a payment plan that fit my needs for the treatment I was receiving. After having been with this office for nearly five months, I feel as though I finally have the tools and knowledge to not only avoid the pitfalls that brought me into the office in the first place, but to learn from those experiences in a way that increases my strength and flexibility. From the moment I began working with Dr. Pilsner I immediately felt a difference in the way I moved both at work and at home. It was also nice to finally have answers to questions about muscle and joint pain that I had experienced over the year. I am now more mobile than I have been in almost three years. I have the ability to ride my bicycle to and from work with little discomfort and can now truly enjoy many of the outdoor sports and activities that I often had to shelve due to back pain or discomfort. I really attribute much of this success to my enhanced strength and flexibility that I have gained in the months spent with this office. Since my experience with Dr. Pilsner and his staff has been so positive, I have pretty much recommended most of my family, friends, and co-workers to his office for a variety of issues. And I know I will continue to do so. This office has really helped me and my family accomplish a lot of goals that we had set forth this time last year and I really want to thank them for being able to give such an amazing gift. Thank you so much for everything!

I highly recommend Dr. Pilsner’s chiropractic care
I have been a patient of Dr. Pilsner’s since October 2011, and my daughter Deanna became a patient in November of 2011. Deanna is 2 years old, and is one of the youngest patients that Dr. Pilsner currently cares for. I first came to Dr. Pilsner because my back was always tight from carrying Deanna, feeding her, and lifting her. She isn’t your normal 2 year child. Deanna was born by emergency c-section and stroke soon after birth. She suffers from several medical issues, but the main one is an underlying muscle condition. This condition caused arthrogryposis and low muscle tone. She is over 50% delayed in all aspects: adaptive, cognitive, physical, communicative, and social development. Because of this, we are involved in many therapies (O.T., P.T. Speech, Feeding, and Music), along with chiropractic, several times a week. After my first month at Heart and Hand Chiropractic, I made the decision to have Dr. Pilsner check Deanna, and I am so glad I did! After one month of adjustments, she was CRAWLING! Her vocabulary has increased each week and she is making strides with development. Deanna is also more apt to have normal bowel movements without having to cry from the pain. It is amazing to know that adjusting her little frame, joints, and nervous system would result in changes that were evident in as quickly as one month (4 treatments). She continues to see Dr. Pilsner on a weekly basis. We have both benefitted from seeing Dr. Pilsner. He both lives and teaches ways to improve your overall health. I highly recommend “investing” in Dr. Pilsner’s chiropractic care.

Dr. Ryan understands my needs
I was diagnosed with scoliosis when I was 15 years old, but didn’t receive any treatment for it until I was 25. In the last 6 months, I would consider my chiropractic care to be more purposeful than in the past, because it is getting to the root of the problem instead of just treating symptoms. I’ve always been an athlete and I first came to chiropractic care when I was pole vaulting at age 25. An injury while training left me immobilized for 2 weeks because of pain in my neck, low-back and mid-back. At times the pain was so intense that I could not get out of bed. Before being under Dr. Ryan’s care, I was stuck in the mindset that reflected the symptom-focused environment I grew up in. Now, after learning more and becoming educated about some of the causes of my problems, I understand health, and where Chiropractic care fits in, from a holistic perspective. In addition to my back and neck pain, I also felt healing changes in my sinus problems and with my asthma condition. My focus now is being as healthy as possible as a triathlete. Dr. Ryan understands my needs for this, since he also has a background as an athlete. He gives me focused attention, suggests additional stretches, physical therapy exercises and nutritional information to help me get the most out of my body while training. I would recommend chiropractic to anyone who wants to know how they can live with a healthier body. Just get a thorough exam – it can’t hurt to get a check-up! The longer you wait the more potential for damage or pain; adversely, the sooner you come in, the quicker you can get on with the healthy life you’ve always wanted! I am so ecstatic to be pursuing my dream of being a professional athlete and chiropractic care has enabled me to do so without painful hindrances!

I’m extremely happy I found Dr. Pilsner
My journey to starting chiropractic treatment for short term pain relief started a long time ago, but it wasn’t until I found Dr. Pilsner that I found that chiropractic care was the best option for my overall health maintenance and career longevity. I came to see Dr. Pilsner for two reasons, the first being low back pain. I have always battled with low back pain since I was in high school, and I wanted to take precaution so that I wouldn’t have to go through the excruciating pain of a thrown out back again. It got so bad that I would be in bed for over a week, terrified to move or sleep because I didn’t want to trigger a muscle spasm that would leave me paralyzed with pain. In the past my husband would take me to the hospital not knowing what else to do, and all I would ever come home with were a bunch of pain meds, but never an answer to what was actually happening. I have seen a couple different chiropractors in the past, but it was only for a short time to make my present pain go away as fast they could. The pain would go away eventually, but I was always living in fear that the simplest movement would throw my back out again and the whole process would start over again. The second and most important reason I found Dr. Pilsner was because of my career. I am a dental hygienist and all day long my body is in positions that really compromise the alignment of my neck and shoulders. I would come home from a long day feeling tight and sore, and knowing that the longevity of my career could be in trouble if I didn’t start taking care of myself. Going into my first appointment with Dr. Pilsner I thought I knew exactly what to expect, since I had received chiropractic in the past. However, this appointment was different than any other I have ever had. We spent the whole first half of my appointment in an exam room actually talking about what was going on with my body. He took and explained x-rays of my back and neck. I have never had a doctor or chiropractor in the past take an x-ray to actually look at what could be causing my symptoms. Everything was very clearly explained, he went over what he thought would be the best plan for care and all of the costs involved. His care plan included what it was going to take to get my body back to a healthy alignment, not only to relieve my symptoms right away, but more importantly how I could work to maintain my healthy alignment in order to live pain free for the long term, and to continuously improve my overall health. I’ve been seeing Dr. Pilsner now for about five months and literally after the first week my shoulders and neck felt like 40 pounds of weight had been lifted off of them. I’m able to work every day without my head feeling weighed down and dealing with kinks in my neck and shoulders. My back feels strong, and I don’t have that constant fear that my treatment was just a quick fix. Dr. Pilsner has taught me that using chiropractic treatment for optimal health and maintenance can let me live my active lifestyle without the constant worry that my symptoms will appear out of nowhere and compromise my life and career. I’m extremely happy I found Dr. Pilsner and haven’t felt this good for a long time. Half of my office goes to see him as well, and I know he has helped them just as much as he has helped me. I hope this testimony will show others that chiropractic care really is a great way to relieve pain in a healthy natural way, and keep your body in its aligned, natural state for long term health and wellness.

Thank you Heart & Hand!
My name is Morgen and I just graduated from Colorado State University. I started seeing Dr. Ryan about ten weeks ago when I began experiencing pain and numbness in my neck and arms. The x-rays showed that I had an incorrect curvature in my neck that was compromising my health. I started care with Dr. Ryan and have become completely dedicated to the corrective traction exercises! After just ten weeks the curvature in my neck has improved. I really believe in Heart & Hand’s overall approach to health, and the fact that there are many aspects to tend to when achieving overall wellness. I also participated in Dr. Ryan’s Monthly Wellness Detox Program. It gave me tools that will help me to make long term improvements to my eating and exercising habits. I have been to several chiropractors in my life but have never experienced the whole health approach that Dr. Ryan and his team have developed. They work very hard at enriching the lives of their patients.
Thank you Heart & Hand!

Dr. Ryan and his staff feel like family
I have struggled with bad headaches since I was in high school. In college I began seeing a neurologist, who essentially told me I’d have to medicate for the rest of my life to deal with the headaches. I did that for a while, but decided to try chiropractic care as an alternative. I wound up with Dr. Ryan here at Heart & Hand Chiropractic, and I am so grateful! My headaches are near gone, and I don’t take any medicine on a regular basis! I feel more energized, and have an overall better feeling of life. We wish we didn’t have to move to Japan, because Dr. Ryan and his staff feel like family here, and we are going to miss them! Dr. Ryan genuinely cares about his patients and their well-being. He and his staff make up a one-of-a-kind chiropractic clinic, and we’ll miss them…but we’ll be back!
I was always one of the people that figured I didn’t really need chiropractic care. However, after I had an exam with Dr. Ryan and saw the x-rays of my neck and how bad it was, I really wanted to get it corrected! After only a few short months with Dr. Ryan, my posture has dramatically improved I am standing up straight! Heart and Hand Chiropractic has been an awesome part of my life. Thanks!!!

I recommend Dr. Pilsner to everyone.
Hello everyone, my name is Adam. I am 27 years old and am a student at Colorado State University. I have been coming to Heart & Hand Chiropractic for about a year now. I was in the army for eight years and through that time my body had gone through some traumatic experiences. The military ran a hearing test on me before I left and found that I had hearing loss, and I was experiencing tinnitus. After I got out of the military I moved to Colorado, and a friend told me about Dr. Ryan Pilsner. After a couple months of chiropractic care with Dr. Pilsner I had another hearing test by the VA, which found that my hearing had returned to normal ranges and my tinnitus had stopped. Not only did my hearing improve but I have had remarkable improvements in my lower back and my shoulder. I was in a motor cycle accident last May. After my accident, Dr. Pilsner put in a lot of work to get me back on my feet as quickly as possible. Every time I came in for and visit he made sure that I received the appropriate care. I am now able to be active, if not hundred percent yet, after only 3 months of his care. I recommend Dr. Pilsner to everyone. On September 18, 1895, D.D. Palmer was working late in his office when a janitor, Harvey Lillard, began working nearby. A noisy fire engine passed by outside the window and Palmer was surprised to see that Lillard didn’t react at all. He approached the man and tried to strike up a conversation. He soon realized Lillard was deaf. Patiently, Palmer managed to communicate with the man, and learned that he had normal hearing for most of his life. However, he had been over in a cramped, stooping position, and felt something “pop” in his back. When he stood up, he realized he couldn’t hear. Palmer deduced that the two events — the popping in his back and the deafness — had to be connected. He ran his hand carefully down Lillard’s spine and felt one of the vertebra was not in its normal position. “I reasoned that if that vertebra was replaced, the man’s hearing should be restored,” he wrote in his notes afterwards. “With this object in view, a half hour’s talk persuaded Mr. Lillard to allow me to replace it. I racked it into position by using the spinous process as a lever, and soon the man could hear.” Over the succeeding months, other patients came to Palmer with every conceivable problem, including flu, sciatica, migraine headaches, stomach complaints, epilepsy and heart trouble. D.D. Palmer found each of these conditions responded well to the adjustments which he was calling “hand treatments.” Later he coined the term chiropractic — from the Greek words, Chiro, meaning (hand) and practic, meaning (practice or operation).

My overall energy and endurance has greatly improved.
I am 64 years old and I have been receiving Corrective Chiropractic Care (CCC) since 2008. Prior to that time I had gone for chiropractic adjustments only when I had serious problems with pain and/or movement. When I first started CCC my X-rays were bleak, showing much deterioration and misalignment throughout my neck. Some of the damage appeared to be irreversible, but there was definitely lots of room for improvement. Over the last four years I have gone from adjustments four times per week to my current schedule of one adjustment per week with home traction support. The most astounding part of my little story is the “beyond imaginable” nature of the progress I have made. My current X-rays look like they are from a totally different person- and, in a way, they are. I am now, after a lifetime of pain, completely free of migraine headaches. My overall energy and endurance has greatly improved as has my body awareness. But the most amazing surprise of all is that I recently have regained the use of my thumbs. After more than ten years of trying to get through the day with continuously decreasing thumb function, it has been thrilling to suddenly have them back. Apparently my neck was so locked up in the area for thumb control that the pathways had completely shut down. Thanks to the CCC interventions my neck has healed enough to release the pathways. I still chuckle as I find myself doing simple tasks (buttons, lids, tape, scissors…) without needing to look for a tool or figure out a strategy. In addition to the joy of working thumbs, I also notice less time and frustration being spent on the “little” things. Of all the wonderful benefits I have received from CCC, the top of the list is the ongoing support and inspiration provided by Dr. Ryan and his staff. During the many, many times I have felt frustrated, injured, or unenthused they have been there to get me through the rough times with their consistently uplifting attitudes. I have learned that no matter how discouraged or sore I may feel, both my body and my mind can be adjusted, and that I will feel better; and all of this while I am getting older!

Wonderful and pain free.
Once upon a time, there was a cowboy and a cowgirl named Monty and Bev, who wanted desperately to have a child. They tried and they tried for two and a half years, with no success. Then, one day, a friend suggested that they see Dr. Jen at Heart and Hand Chiropractic. Monty and Bev were very skeptical, but thought they had nothing to lose. It was much less expensive than the alternative. In 2 months time, they couldn’t believe it; THEY WERE PREGNANT! Bev was adjusted throughout her entire pregnancy. Two weeks before their due date, their little bundle of joy was breech. Bev was adjusted every two days and their little one had turned around by the time he was born. As soon as their little cowpoke, Ryder, came in to this world, he was adjusted immediately! Two years later, their family was blessed with a little cowgirl named Tayten. Through this journey they had become very close with Dr. Jen, and were very saddened when she moved away. After several years of being away from chiropractic care, thinking they were “fine,” Bev was experiencing terrible pains in her shoulders and hip. She was having headaches at least five times a week, occasional migraines, and also was suffering from insomnia. Monty had been diagnosed by a physician with arthritis in his knee and hip. He was told he would have to have cortisone injections for the rest of his life. Ryder had strep throat 2-3 times every six months, and Tayten had constant ear and sinus infections. This had become the new “normal” for their family, and they would take pain relievers and other medications to ease the aches, pains, sleep issues, and they just kept on with their lives, side effects and all. Then, one day, the aches and pains had become unbearable for Bev. She felt like she couldn’t dodge the bullet for one more day. They remembered how wonderful and pain free they had been under chiropractic care. Once again with skepticism, they decided to give the “New Sheriff in Town,” Dr. Ryan, a try. Soon after, they were all (Monty, Bev, Ryder, and Tayten) examined, and once again made a commitment to regular adjustments. Two months into care with Dr. Ryan, Monty’s hip and knee problems were non-existent. Bev no longer needed medication to sleep, her headaches all but vanished. They were sitting around the chuck wagon, (dinner table) talking about how four months had gone by without a single sickness in the family. This was very out of the ordinary for their family. It’s taken two different times in their chiropractic journey for them to realize how important regular adjustments are in order to keep their family healthy and happy. I can tell he really cares about his patients
I believe that God sent Dr. Ryan (and his staff) into my life to help bring me healing. I was a cross-country runner all through high school and started experiencing pain under my right knee at the beginning of my senior year. Being overconfident and obsessed with my sport, I didn’t take care of my injury, and the pain/tightness spread to my hamstring, hip, and calf. I did physical therapy for awhile, but that didn’t help. It has been six years since my pain first started, and I had pretty much given up on doctors. I first went to Dr. Ryan 5-6 months ago, because of a Patient Appreciation Day. I had found the advertisement for a free spinal screening on their website while looking for an affordable chiropractor. When I called to make an appointment, Melissa was so helpful. Even though I wasn’t able to come in during any of the open slots on Patient Appreciation Day, she still scheduled me for a free spinal screening on a different day. When I came in for the first time, I was very impressed by Dr. Ryan’s thoroughness. He tested things like my blood pressure, reaction time, and sensation on both sides of my body to see if one was inhibited by a pinched nerve. Once he did all those tests, I knew he was a doctor I could trust. The initial exam and x-rays showed that I needed quite a bit of help. I realized that if any doctor could help me, he probably would do the best job. I wanted to be well so badly I was willing to do whatever I could to improve my health. For the first few months of chiropractic care, this meant driving about 2 ½ hours roundtrip each time I came to the office. The staff here at Heart and Hand Chiropractic has always been so understanding and helpful. I appreciate their willingness to reschedule appointments last minute, and they make me feel like I am part of a family here. I have also learned so much about the benefits of chiropractic care, particularly through the workshops. I believe that it is important for each person to see a chiropractor regularly (and hopefully a good one, like Dr. Ryan! ), for their whole life. By the time you’re experiencing pain, it means something has already gone wrong! I appreciate the time Dr. Ryan takes to answer my questions. I can tell he really cares about his patients. My pain is not completely gone, but it definitely has alleviated in the past 6 months, and I believe in the process. I know that sometimes pain can be healed almost instantaneously, but sometimes injuries that take years to build may take just as long to tear down. Dr. Ryan’s encouragement often gives me the heart to keep working—doing my traction, stretching, or just believing that pain does not always mean healing has not taken place. I believe that God has good plans to heal me completely, and I thank Heart and Hand Chiropractic SO much for their helping me on my journey. Thank you, Dr. Ryan, Taylor, Melissa, and Coco!

Dr. Ryan’s patience and calming nature are incredible.
My name is McKenzie Anstine and I love WebMd. Well, I did love WebMd, until I met Dr. Ryan. I started seeing Dr. Ryan about a year ago after a rough snowboarding fall. After a week of treatment, my back felt better from the fall, but I had discovered the benefits of chiropractic care. I have struggled with daily headaches (isn’t that normal?) for years with occasional migraines. I had pain from running and triathlon injuries. Again, I thought this was a normal part of participating in sports and not being 19 anymore. I had a lot of anxiety about the headaches and injuries and constantly checked WebMd for a diagnosis, which only caused more anxiety! After a few weeks of chiropractic care, my headaches reduced from daily to weekly. My body felt better and I could run with less pain. While planning my wedding and starting a business, Dr. Ryan has helped keep my headaches under control (less than one a month). Now I don’t have to miss work or runs and I am currently training for my first marathon. I am learning to address the bumps in the road naturally and in a health way thanks to my weekly appointments, traction, and exercises Dr. Ryan gives me to do at home. Dr. Ryan’s patience and calming nature are incredible. I may still occasionally come up with a crazy diagnosis for pain, but have learned to trust Dr. Ryan and the process. Several weeks ago my husband and I were discussing finances, purchasing a new home, owning a business, etc. I offered to stop seeing Dr. Ryan for a while until my business was up and running. My husband, the chiropractic doubter, said; “Absolutely Not! I always love you, but I really like you when you feel good.” My mom had the same feedback!

My name is Lorenda and I’m a 45 year old mother of two. I’ve worked at a desk job for my entire professional career- and my neck and back have suffered. When I first visited Dr. Pilsner I was suffering from daily headaches, shoulder pain and tightness, and I was taking way too much Ibuprofen just to feel “okay.” My husband suggested having an evaluation with Dr. Pilsner because he had been a great help in diagnosing and treating our son’s heel pain. My initial x-rays told the story; everything was going in the wrong direction from years of working at the keyboard. After just a few adjustments I was able to stop using ibuprofen entirely. Four months later, I feel like an entirely different person. The pain is gone and my understanding of what causes it has helped me prevent it outside of my adjustments. I religiously do my traction exercises and feel that has been a key to my recovery. I haven’t had a headache in months and my quality of life has vastly improved. Thank you to the team at Heart & Hand Chiropractic- Dr. Pilsner, Taylor, and Melissa! You have each been my partner in getting to where I am today!!

This is what good chiropractic care is all about!
After sitting for my entire working career; I began experiencing hip pain when standing or walking in addition to tingling in one of my legs. I had a chance meeting with Dr. Ryan and decided to schedule an appointment – I wanted to feel better. After seeing my X-Rays, I was totally on board. I had only been to a chiropractor once before; but I wanted to feel better. After six months of consistent care, I am so much better! I have now discovered that I don’t need any more anti-inflammatory medication, even after playing 18 holes of golf and pushing my clubs. I’m not a 100% yet, but I am a work in progress with a great team by my side making sure I stay strong with exercises, stretches and adjustments. I’m looking forward to more great days of golfing, spending time with family and all the other activities I want to be doing without pain! Jeff’s Story: I started with Dr. Ryan in the fall of 2012. I had been away from chiropractic care for almost twenty years. I was having issues with a sore hip (taking 800 mg ibuprofen at least once per day). On top of that, I was also experiencing headaches at least FIVE times per week (taking Extra Strength Excedrin for this.) Within 30 days of beginning care with Dr. Ryan, I was able to stop taking both medications. As I continue with my chiropractic care, I have regained flexibility in my body in I feel great! This is what good chiropractic care is all about!
