I believe that God sent Dr. Ryan (and his staff) into my life to help bring me healing. I was a cross-country runner all through high school and started experiencing pain under my right knee at the beginning of my senior year. Being overconfident and obsessed with my sport, I didn’t take care of my injury, and the pain/tightness spread to my hamstring, hip, and calf.
I did physical therapy for awhile, but that didn’t help. It has been six years since my pain first started, and I had pretty much given up on doctors. I first went to Dr. Ryan 5-6 months ago, because of a Patient Appreciation Day. I had found the advertisement for a free spinal screening on their website while looking for an affordable chiropractor. When I called to make an appointment, Melissa was so helpful.
Even though I wasn’t able to come in during any of the open slots on Patient Appreciation Day, she still scheduled me for a free spinal screening on a different day. When I came in for the first time, I was very impressed by Dr. Ryan’s thoroughness. He tested things like my blood pressure, reaction time, and sensation on both sides of my body to see if one was inhibited by a pinched nerve. Once he did all those tests, I knew he was a doctor I could trust. The initial exam and x-rays showed that I needed quite a bit of help. I realized that if any doctor could help me, he probably would do the best job. I wanted to be well so badly I was willing to do whatever I could to improve my health.
For the first few months of chiropractic care, this meant driving about 2 ½ hours roundtrip each time I came to the office. The staff here at Heart and Hand Chiropractic has always been so understanding and helpful. I appreciate their willingness to reschedule appointments last minute, and they make me feel like I am part of a family here. I have also learned so much about the benefits of chiropractic care, particularly through the workshops. I believe that it is important for each person to see a chiropractor regularly (and hopefully a good one, like Dr. Ryan! ), for their whole life. By the time you’re experiencing pain, it means something has already gone wrong!
I appreciate the time Dr. Ryan takes to answer my questions. I can tell he really cares about his patients. My pain is not completely gone, but it definitely has alleviated in the past 6 months, and I believe in the process. I know that sometimes pain can be healed almost instantaneously, but sometimes injuries that take years to build may take just as long to tear down. Dr. Ryan’s encouragement often gives me the heart to keep working—doing my traction, stretching, or just believing that pain does not always mean healing has not taken place. I believe that God has good plans to heal me completely, and I thank Heart and Hand Chiropractic SO much for their helping me on my journey. Thank you, Dr. Ryan, Taylor, Melissa, and Coco!
