Signal Power: Tuning Out the Static

Static is the sneakiest member of the Slouch Squad. He fills the spine highway with fuzzy crackle so kids can’t hear their body’s messages. In Module 1, Captain Spine teaches Signal Power: how to quiet the crackle and listen. Cadets learn that the spine protects the nerves that carry messages from the brain to the whole body. They try a private Body Weather Report, practice the ten-second Captain’s Pause, and sort signals into “move me,” “settle me,” and “tell a grown-up.” Stand tall, spine strong!

  • Check the weather inside with a private Body Weather Report: sunny, stormy, sleepy, or rumbly?
  • Practice the Captain’s Pause: freeze, hands on, and ask “What’s my body telling me?”
  • Play Sort the Signal and take home the Weather Watcher mission tracker

Next date: Thursday, November 5, 2026 at 4:30 PM. Sessions meet the first Thursday of each month.
