What Is a Subluxation?

In chiropractic, a vertebral subluxation describes a spinal segment that isn't moving or positioned the way it should, in a way that puts stress on the surrounding joints, muscles and nerves. Because your spine protects the spinal cord and the nerves that branch out to every part of your body, chiropractors focus on how these areas of stress may interfere with normal communication between your brain and body.

Subluxations can develop from everyday stresses: falls and injuries, long hours of sitting, poor posture, repetitive movements, and even chemical and emotional stress. Many people don't notice them at first, which is exactly why we believe understanding them matters. This workshop explains the idea in plain language, without the jargon.
